Blog 7 Individualism in Groups

                                         Individualism in Groups

In the article, Individualism in Groups, written by Carol Travis, “she spoke about the how different people behavior in a group and the response to emergency and certain situation are less productive because of the influence that affect the individual judgment within the group.” When it is a larger group individual is more reliance with their decision

I agree that people in larger group are more relax with their judgment because in every group there are one are two people who are more out spoken and ready to react to any given emergency or situation so if the group is larger the ratio of proactive people is large and the reluctant people feel safe that they don’t have to respond to the situation. This is In reference to the psychologist in the article who call this behavior, “diffusion of responsibility,” Take for instant the professor in my class who gave us an assignment and break us up into groups of four. The assignment was to read an article and find the main idea as a group within the group there were only two people who participate and ready to search and find the answer while the other nonparticipant did not speak or respond to the task we have as a group.

Couple months ago in the news teachers were the blame for failure and closing of some schools in New York . I don’t think the failure of children and closing of schools is only the teacher’s responsibility when the school system is made up of a large group of parents, teachers principal and other faculties why wait for the teachers to improve the school when there are many other element and sources is responsible such as parents participation, environment, and economy improvement.

People are more reluctant and are influence by the group in which they are associated with. The responsibility is diminish in large groups.

  1. the first body paragraph has some repetition of the article's argument, while the second does not really develop an example that can be used as support
